You wake up disoriented, in a home that looks enough like your own. Something's off though; it's too dark in here and it seems like there's something haunting, watching your every move. You try every light switch in your house but none of them work.

Except for one: a haggard looking desk lamp on a table that overlooks a shoe-box. The bulb flickers, weary and weak, but it works, illuminating the darkness just enough to see inside the shoe-box. There are a few pieces of paper inside: one a poem, two manuscript pages, accompanied by a flashlight, two spare batteries, a cell phone and a handgun.

You pick up a manuscript page and read it. In it you wake up in a place that seems familiar, but off. You find a lamp and a shoe-box. You set that one down and pick up the other. It reads something about a dark place, perhaps the one you've found yourself in. Written in pen there's a note on the bottom.

"The Darkness is dangerous. Trust no one but yourself, and others like you. Always keep a light with you, and if all else fails: run. -A. Wake."
